        On April 27, the National Energy Administration announced the construction and operation of photovoltaic power generation nationwide in the first quarter of 2021. The data shows that the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in my country is 258.50GW, and that of centralized photovoltaics is 177.36GW; the newly installed photovoltaic capacity in the first quarter is 5.33GW, that of centralized photovoltaics is 2.52GW, and that of distributed photovoltaics is 2.81GW.

        In other words, in the first quarter of 2021, my country’s new installed capacity of distributed photovoltaics surpassed that of centralized photovoltaics, which is rare in the history of photovoltaic development in my country, and it can even be said to be a milestone.

        From 2013 to 2020, the proportion of distributed photovoltaics in my country has been greatly improved. But even in 2018, when distributed photovoltaics accounted for the highest proportion, it was only 47.35%, not more than 50%.

        In the first quarter, the installed capacity of distributed photovoltaics surpassed that of centralized ones. What is the charm of the former?

        Centralized photovoltaics were the main development goal in the early stage of my country’s photovoltaic development. Large state-owned enterprises or central enterprises carried out bidding for construction, and the electricity generated was unified and connected to the grid. At the same time, there were relatively high subsidies. However, in the era of photovoltaic parity, without subsidies, centralized photovoltaic power generation is unstable, and the disadvantages of long-distance transportation have begun to become prominent.

        In contrast, distributed photovoltaics, on the one hand, are installed on the user side and can be used without long-distance transportation. The excess power can be connected to the grid, which solves the problem of consumption and reduces the rate of light abandonment; on the other hand, many component companies In response to the needs of distributed photovoltaics, the appearance design and size have been adjusted to make it more beautiful and easy to install, which has been recognized by many users.

        Of course, many regions still retain subsidies for distributed photovoltaics, which is also an important reason why distributed photovoltaics can add more installed capacity than centralized photovoltaics in the first quarter.
